The Ancient Anguish

This site is not much upkept, since I'm tired of web stuff and it's more complicated to write AA-related things when I'm a wizard. I try to keep the Canticle archive up to date, though.

See The Gemynd Post for the most state-of-the-eart, up-to-date and top-of-the-rag-pile news on Ancient Anguish.

I'm back! ;) My alts are (2006-): Fir, Otter, Azaphael, Byakushin, Juniper, Kataja, Lehmus, Ragnhild, Saarni, Sallow and Pine. Tirfest's not a regular alt of mine, but a wizardly "test character", which means that you might catch Fir and Tirfest online at the same time. Test characters are people who get killed, maimed and humiliated a lot for the benefit and general amusement of their wizards, and they get paid really badly for it. Tirfest is no exception.

I've written a Troubleshooting your AA connection page to the AAwiki; I'd rather not gather information somewhere that I'm the only one who can upkeep it. ;)

Let's start with the historical background in the Real Life (TM): Ancient Anguish is a text based adventure game (or MUD) for which coding began in 1992, and was opened to the public in February, 1992. Today it is one of the largest and most popular LPMuds on the Internet. (Hint, hint.) It was chosen to be the Mud of the Month of November -95 on Mudconnect.com - I recommend the article, it's a nice read. Here is an interview with Zor, a creator of AA, on the early history of AA, too.

The commercials might end there. You who haven't seen it, correct the wrongness as soon as possible. You who have seen it and came here because you want to fill your life with ancient anguish, follow me.
